FOOTBALL fans could soon be tucking into meat-free pies at Scotland's national football stadium.

The company which provides catering for events at Hampden Park says it is planning to launch a vegan menu.

The venue is also poised to host a vegan festival later this month on July 14.

More than 100 stalls will be showcasing vegan treats at the family-friendly event which will also include cookery demonstrations, talks and childrens' activities.

Craig Younger, General Manager for Sodexo Sports & Leisure at Hampden Park Stadium, said: "We’re looking forward to welcoming the Scotland Vegan Festival to Glasgow, and hope this will be the start of an ongoing relationship with Vegan Events UK.

"With plans to launch our own vegan menu later this year, I’m sure the day will also provide some great inspiration.”

Victoria Bryceson, Events Manager for Vegan Events UK, added: “We want to show non-vegans how incredibly amazing living a vegan lifestyle is and show that it is not only healthy, varied and exciting but that it is also practical, easy and affordable as well."

Tickets for the Scotland Vegan Festival at Hampden Park can be purchased on the door for £3, with under 16’s free of charge.

VIP tickets, which include fast track entry, a goody bag full of vegan products, samples, discounts and offers, can also be purchased online in advance for £15 via Eventbrite.
