William Andrews performs in his new show Willy at Pleasance Courtyard, Bunker One, during August.

  • What is your Fringe show about?

Have you ever had a day where you speak to no-one, until you are not even sure how to talk? Well it’s been like that but instead of a day, it’s been nine years. It's a self portrait I suppose – about finding my feet again, learning how to accept the 'Willy' I am.

  • How many times/many years have you appeared at the Fringe?

God it’s been eight - variously. My first stint was over 20 years ago. (gulp)

  • What’s your most memorable moment from the Fringe?

Greg McHugh being sick on stage beside me and still carrying on. He’s noble savage that guy.

  • What’s the worst thing about the Fringe?

Indifference – give me pelters or laugh like a frog, but don’t come to ignore me.

  • If you were not a performer what would you be doing?

Plumber. Not a joke. Shifting radiators with a carefree air.

  • How do you prepare for a performance?

Google plumbing courses.

Middle Meadow Walk. Makes me feel like I’m a kid again, back at Edinburgh College of Arts.

  • What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve ever done?

Called a cyclist who almost killed me ‘a trumpet’.

  • Favourite Scottish food/drink?

Tennants. Don’t @ me.

  • Sum up your show in three words

A Joyful Return.
