THE unexplained death of a Summerston woman is still being investigated by city cops more than four months after her body was found.

Tragic Alison McAllister, 56, was finally laid to rest following a funeral service at the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church in Maryhill on July 12.

Her funeral was attended by hundreds of mourners, including her mum Jeanette, and children Laura and Garry, who paid tribute to the popular carer, who was very much part of the North Glasgow community.

In a post on social media, the church said: “We buried Alison McAllister, who was last seen in Summerston on March 19. The investigation into her passing is still ongoing.

“As a parish and as a community, we are so grateful to have drawn part of this nightmare to a close for her mum Jeanette, and her children Laura and Garry.

“They have conducted themselves with great dignity and we are rightly proud of them.

“May Alison be at peace now and may her family taste a little of that same gift.”

Alison was first reported as a missing person and police launched an investigation to find her. She was last seen at around 5.20 pm on Monday, March 19 in the Summerston area, near the ASDA supermarket.

Police previously said she got into her blue Vauxhall Mokka car and drove off. Her car was later found in Collina Street at around 3.30pm on Tuesday, March 20.

On the same day, Alison was found at the Forth and Clyde Canal, near to Cleveden Road at around 1.30pm.

Cops have made several appeals to the public for witnesses who may have seen Alison before she died.

Detective Inspector Craig McPhail previously said: “It is important that we narrow the timescales to establish the exact circumstances surrounding her death.”

But the force confirmed this week that her death is still being investigated.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “The investigation is still ongoing and enquiries are continuing.”

The Evening Times previously reported that a man has appeared in court in May.

On that occasion, Lars Pederson, 33, from Hampshire, appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court charged with rape, and a second charge of sexual assault.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.
