ABERDEEN came to Ibrox with a plan to get in Rangers’ faces, to close them down and to be physical with them. It worked.

They had one chance and scored. How people can say they were the better team, I don’t know.

Defensively, yes. They got everyone back behind the ball and defended well, but Joe Lewis has made three or four great saves.

I thought Rangers were poor, there was nobody that got pass marks, Allan McGregor aside because he had no chance with the goal and little to do after that.

You can’t go through the game performing like that and expect to beat Aberdeen. If you don’t have the majority of players getting pass marks, you won’t win the game.

Steven Gerrard had said on Tuesday that it was hard to get to the top of the league but it was even harder staying there. Rangers lasted three days unfortunately.

A lot of the fans got excited after the win over Hearts and then they feel like they are back down with a bump following the Aberdeen game.

You have got to remember where Rangers were starting from and everyone knows that we have still got a bit to do.

If you want to win leagues, you need to be consistent. You might not be at your best every week, but you don’t let your performances drop below a level and you win game after game after game.

As it turned out, Rangers had a chance to go clear on Wednesday night and it was a real opportunity missed unfortunately.

Rangers are going to have their ups and downs over the season and there is no doubt that was a major down for everyone against Aberdeen.

The important thing now is how the players react and the manager will leave them in no doubt about what is required when they head to Dundee this weekend.
