GLASGOW is one of the UK’s strongest cities for dining out but ‘lacks stand-out restaurants’ according to a guide.
No Glasgow venues were featured in the Harden’s 100 ranking of the UK’s best restaurants, while Edinburgh boasts four names on the list.
However, Scotland’s largest city had six of the top scoring restaurants, who achieved a score of 4/5 for price points above £60 or 5/5 at any value.
They were; Cail Bruich, Gamba, Ubiquitous Chip, Paesano, Crabshakk and Julie’s Kopitam.
Other restaurants judged as ‘good value for money’ were; Eusebi Deli, The Fish People Cafe, The Gannet, Mother India and Shish Mahal.
Martin Wishart in Edinburgh made number 18, with The Castle Terrace graded 53, Number One Restaurant at the Balmoral at 71 and Kitchin at 95.
Outwith Scotland’s cities, Andrew Fairlie at the Gleneagles Hotels in Auchterarder made the top 100 as well as The Peat Inn, in Cupar.
Harden’s 28th annual poll of diners, surveyed 8,000 participants who contributed 50,000 reviews.
