A MAN has appeared in court charged with murdering a dad-of-three.

David Callaghan, 29, allegedly pursued and attacked 30-year-old Owen Hassan with weapons.

It's claimed that on November 7 at Greenview Street, Shawlands, Callaghan, while acting with another murdered Mr Hassan.

Callaghan, from East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday where he was represented by Bob Mitchell.

Papers from the court allege that Callaghan, while acting with another, pursued Mr Hassan with knives or something similar and caused him to fall.

It's claimed that while on the ground, he took hold of Mr Hassan and prevented him from leaving, detained him against his will and repeatedly struck him on the head and body with knives or something similar.

It's further alleged "having made good his escape", Callaghan further pursued Mr Hassan and struck him on the head and body with a knife, or similar and murdered him.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody by sheriff Gerard Bonnar and will appear at a later date for a full committal hearing.
