I have played in many games against Rangers and I know full well how vitriolic some of the stuff that goes on round about the game can be.

I played with Neil Lennon and I remember the incredible abuse he took which was baffling for some us in that Celtic dressing room who had no real concept of why he was such a target. I honestly don’t know that it is ever something that you get used to.

To my own mind I think there will always be idiots at games. You will always get people who think that because they pay their money into a stadium that they can shout what they like and be as vile as they want.

I don’t think you’ll ever be rid of that moronic element.

But on Saturday I heard the singing directed towards Leigh Griffiths at Ibrox and you do just wonder what goes through people’s heads at times.

It is too simplistic to say that Griff will want to come back and shut them up with his performances because right now I think he has bigger things on his mind. But no-one needs that level of agitation and disrespect.

It is a reminder that there is still so much work to be done when it comes to educating people and it is depressing in this day and age that it is still acceptable to poke fun at someone who has been dealing with pretty serious issues.

I played football for a long time, I spent my life in dressing rooms and I appreciate what goes on around football. But I just think that sometimes there is a line in the sand which you have to question.
