Tributes have been paid to council workman who died after being struck by a bin lorry.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was killed in the incident around 10.15am on Thursday.
Emergency services raced to the scene on Mount Cameron Drive North, in the St Leonards are of East Kilbride, but man was pronounced dead on arrival.
South Lanarkshire Council has since confirmed the man was one of their colleagues.
Michael McGlynn, Executive Director of Community and Enterprise Resources, said: “We are deeply saddened at the death of our colleague and our sympathies go out to his family, friends and workmates.
"We are providing support to those affected by this tragic incident, and the council will of course assist the police with their enquiries.”
Police are appealing for anyone with information on the incident or eye witnesses to contact officers on 101.
A spokeswoman for the force added: "The Health and Safety Executive has been informed."
