A former council print works in the south side of Glasgow which is to be transformed into a family play centre is awaiting further planning permission.

The Printing Works on Pollokshaws Road has been lying derelict for several years.

However, plans to transform the B-listed building into a play centre were approved in November.

Now, before works on the building can take place the owners are hoping to have a second application approved.

Alongside plans for the centre, which will be named St Andrew's Play Centre, to have a wide range of play facilities including activity foam pits set within an obstacle course frame, slides, zip wire and high level wires and a parkour activity area, owners are hoping install a kitchen to be able to provide hot meals on the premises.

The application is currently pending a decision from council planners but a decision should be made in the coming months.

St Andrew’s Works was built in 1899 for Glasgow Corporation Electricity Department and used as a power plant.

It was originally a coal-fired generating station, until generation ceased on site in 1922.

In 1937, the facility was divided into two parts, the print works northern section was sold to Glasgow Corporation, now Glasgow City Council.
