Hidden just off one of the busiest streets in Shawlands, the cosy and inviting Ruby Woo Boutique is a treasure trove of clothes and accessories just waiting to be raided.

Although smaller than its West End counterpart, the South Side store certainly has plenty on offer, with wall to wall racks beautifully organised into tones and co-ordinating garments. From glam going-out dresses and jumpsuits to cosy jumpers and slogan T-Shirts, I really did feel that there was something for all ages and my mother who had joined me to browse the boutique saw plenty of things suitable for her as well as some things that only the younger generations would be brave enough to wear.

The buzzing atmosphere of people chatting and sliding past each other in the tight space to head towards items which had caught their eye, filled the bright area where white walls perfectly enhanced the colourful clothes, shoes and bags hung around the shop. French-style ornate mirrors on the walls reflected a giant jewelled chandelier which dropped down from the ceiling - an elegant addition to the already stunning space.

The boutique hosts a variety of brands such as AX Paris, which can also be purchased in some high-street stores, but I really felt that the warmth of the boutique paired with the stylish organisation of the garments at Ruby Woo showcased them in a way that high-street giants simply could not. Prices in the boutique range from £15 to £75 with some of the more decadent dresses at the higher end of the scale.

I could see that inspiration for a great deal of the stock in the boutique had come from designer brands - offering something of a luxury look for less. Bags, shoes and scarves gave a nod to the likes of Louis Vuitton, Valentino and Gucci.

Owner Fiona Barclay told me about what she wants Ruby Woo to provide for the fashion lovers of Glasgow, she said: "At Ruby Woo Boutique, I love bringing fashion and style that is completely on trend and totally exclusive boutique fashion.

"I also really want our customers to come in, shop and feel good about themselves no matter their dress size!

"I also like to make sure we provide a 5 star service to all of our customers both in store and online...we simply wouldn't be where we are without them! There are lots of exciting things coming in 2019."

Despite my best intentions I ended up purchasing a stylish one-shouldered navy jumpsuit from the shop’s sale rack, which saw everything reduced to just £5, and when I went to pay I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful pink tissue paper which was folded round my item before it was placed in the bag.

Little touches like this are the reason I would highly recommend visiting the Skirving Street or Great Western Road stores but if you can’t make it to either then you can also shop online at rubywooboutique.com.

Until next time, stay stylish Glasgow.
