Glasgow-born performer Lewis Capaldi has secured his first ever number one single.

The 22-year-old hit the top stop with single 'Someone You Loved' in Friday's chart, beating off competition from fellow Scot Calvin Harris.

The milestone comes before the release of his debut album 'Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent' on May 17.

It has been a meteoric rise for Lewis, which has seen him sell out shows at Glasgow's O2 ABC, Barrowlands and two nights at the O2 Academy.

He's also supported the likes of Niall Horan and Bastille on tour.

Speaking after finding out he secured the coveted number one in the UK charts, Lewis said: "I’m absolutely blown away by the news that Someone You Loved is number one in the UK this week.

"I genuinely cannot believe it. I won’t let it change me though - anyone who wants to reach out and congratulate me can still get in touch through one of my assistants."
