A life-sized golden Oor Wullie will be spending the summer at a Glasgow shopping centre.

Buchanan Galleries has sponsored the sculpture as part of the Oor Wullie's BIG Bucket Trail 2019.

The sponsorship will be in partnership with Glasgow Children's Hospital.

It is one of 200 Oor Wullie sculptures that will be popping up in cities across Scotland from June, and one of dozens that will appear in Glasgow.

Those following the trail will be able to ‘unlock’ each sculpture they find using a specially designed app and reveal special offers and features.

Kathy Murdoch, General Manager at Buchanan Galleries, said: “Our relationship with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity has gone from strength to strength over the years, so we were delighted to get involved in Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail.

“The BIG Bucket Trail is going to be huge for Scotland, and we’re proud to sponsor our very own sculpture. We’re very much looking forward to showcasing our own Oor Wullie design when it is unveiled in June, as well as seeing the others which will be installed across the country this summer.”

The charity, which supports babies, children and young people treated at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children, is joining forces with its counterparts in Edinburgh and the Highlands – Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and the ARCHIE Foundation – for the 2019 Bucket Trail.

Kirsten Sinclair, Chief Operating Officer at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Buchanan Galleries is involved with Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail. It promises to be a spectacular summer attraction for the whole country, and we hope as many people as possible will get involved with the trail.

“We’ve enjoyed a great relationship with the team at the centre over the past few years, and last Christmas they blew us away with their record breaking fundraising, so we were delighted to hear they wanted to sponsor their very own Oor Wullie sculpture for 2019.”
