The only female giant panda in the UK was artificially inseminated on Mother’s Day.
Tian Tian had her annual health check and was artificially inseminated at Edinburgh Zoo, under expert veterinary care.
The 15-year-old giant panda arrived in Edinburgh in December 2011 on a ten-year loan from Bifengxia Breeding Centre in China.
She previously gave birth to twins in 2009, in China, but five attempts to impregnate her in Britain have so far been unsuccessful.
