TRIBUTES have been paid to a young Glasgow footballer who died suddenly yesterday.

It's understood Anton Houghton passed away on Wednesday, April 10. He was 21.

His team, Barrhead Youth Football Club, lead tributes to the player, saying: "On behalf of everyone at Barrhead under 21s and the barrhead youth family, we are devastated to be posting the passing of one of our young players Anton houghton.

"This is a sad time for family, friends and team mates.

"We would like to pass on our condolences to all who knew him Anton.

"He was well loved by the team and will be sadly missed by all G.B.N.F."

While the popular young man's pals were also keen to share their memories of Anton, who hailed from the city's south side.

One wrote: "They say that friends are the family you choose, and I am happy that I had you in my life.

"You were the annoying, moany, wee brother that I never had.

"I hope you rest easy now and I will see you on the other side, love you."

Another added: "Heartbroken.

"If only you knew how much you were loved brother from all of us around you - a great boy with his whole life ahead of him - I hope your at peace now mate - I’ll see you on the other side one day.
