The organisers of two of Glasgow's biggest music festivals have donated benches to local parks.

DF Concerts have given 18 picnic benches to Glasgow Green and Bellahouston Park as part of their commitment to give back to the communities.

The promoter behind Glasgow Summer Sessions and TRNSMT festival wants to ensure that the parks can be enjoyed by locals all year round.

To reduce the impact on spaces used for the festival, both parks are re-turfed.

Last year TRNSMT introduced a policy to use only reusable, biodegradable or recyclable paper straws, and is set to tackle single use plastics this year.

Geoff Ellis, CEO of DF Concerts & Events, said: “The support we’ve had from the local community, the City Council and Glasgow as a whole, has been phenomenal, and key to the success of both TRNSMT and Summer Sessions.

"Having such beautiful parks to host these events in a busy urban city is a huge part of what makes Glasgow great.

“The picnic benches are a heartfelt ‘thank you’ from all of us at DF Concerts and TRNSMT, giving something extra back to the parks that make our events amazing in this practical way gives more opportunity for park users to take a moment to sit down and enjoy our city’s green heart.”

East End residents were asked for their opinion on TRNSMT festival, ahead of its return for the third year.

DF Concerts, traffic, security and noise management teams joined Police Scotland and Glasgow City Council representatives to answer questions ahead of the three-day event.

Previous concerns had been raised regarding the noise impact and closure of Glasgow Green to locals while the event was in town.

Music mogul Geoff Ellis recently claimed he would turn his back on Glasgow if council chiefs voted to introduce a concert ticket levy.

He said: "Quite simply we are now accelerating towards the cliff edge in terms of outdoor events in this city.

"It is of concern to me, and should be to everyone involved in tourism and culture in Glasgow, that promoters and other event organisers will now be encouraged to start events in other cities knowing that our ability to attract strong artistic talent to Glasgow is compromised by hundreds of thousands of pounds per-event."

TRNSMT takes places between 12-14 July in Glasgow Green, with up to 50,000 music fans set to attend while Glasgow Summer Sessions will pop up in Bellahouston Park between 16-25 August.
