BOSSES at a Glasgow pub have vowed to beat last year's fundraising target in honour of tragic Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutcheson.

Every year, The Hug and Pint host a massive birthday bash on June 14, with a number of bands and artists performing live to mark the occasion.

This year, to mark the West End venue's fourth birthday, they have teamed up with events firm Detour in a bid to beat last year's target of £2,000 for a charity set up in memory of Hutchison.

Acts which have previously performed at their secret birthday lineups in the past include Frightened Rabbit, Admiral Fallow, BMX Bandits, Paws, Bossy Love, Be Charlotte, Free Love, Yummy Fur, The Spook School and RM Hubbert.

David Weaver at Detour Scotland said: "We're really excited to be invited back to celebrate The Hug & Pint's birthday again - ever since it opened, it's consistently programmed some of the most incredible shows in the world, as well as supporting the best new bands in Scotland. It completely punches above its weight for such a wee venue.

"We'll be raising money once again for our friend Scott - we raised nearly £2,000 last year, and will be aiming to beat that figure this year. He was such a big supporter of Detour, The Hug & Pint, and grassroots music overall and we'll be raising a glass to him in his absence.

"The lineups for these birthday shows are always secret until the night, but I have to say this might be the best one yet.

"Every show has sold out in advance previously, and this one will no doubt do the same."

The family of Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison launched a charity in the late musician's memory this month.

The 36-year-old frontman and founder of Frightened Rabbit took his own life in May 2018 following a battle with depression.

His parents, Ron and Marion, and brothers, Neil and Grant, have named the charity Tiny Changes.
