Activists in Glasgow will stage a protest against President Donald Trump’s “divisive, hateful policies” during his state visit to Britain in June.
Stand Up to Racism (STUR) Glasgow has organised an event at the Buchanan Street Steps on June 4, during the U.S. President’s three day visit to the UK.
The event is “in solidarity” with another planned protest in London, which is seeking to create a “Trump free zone” on June 4, according to the Facebook page.

STUR have called on other campaign groups in the city to join their event opposing the visit, and so far Extinction Rebellion have announced they will be attending.
A spokesman for Extinction Rebellion Glasgow said: “Extinction Rebellion Glasgow will be backing and building protests to oppose Donald Trump's state visit.
“We oppose the figurehead of the most powerful nation in this system that's destroying our planet being lavished with a state banquet while the house burns around us.
“Climate denial is unacceptable, inaction on the climate crisis is unacceptable, we need action and we'll take action to push for the change we need.”

A description of the event on Facebook read: “We oppose his racist policies and the far right that is being encouraged by him.
“We oppose the normalisation of Trump's toxic politics through cosy state visits and we oppose all attempts to emulate his politics here.”
The page goes on to cite their reasons for opposing Mr Trump including his policies on “climate justice, migrants’ rights, anti-racism, women's rights, LGBT+ rights, anti-war and trade union rights”.
Campaigners added the event is a chance to protest attempts by the UK government to “facilitate his vile politics”.
So far 200 people have listed themselves as attending.
Donald Trump will visit the UK between June 3 to 5, he is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Theresa May and attend a D-Day commemoration in Portsmouth.
