EYEWITNESSES have described the scene in the South Side of Glasgow after a cyclist was reportedly hit by a lorry.

As reported by the Evening Times, emergency services have rushed to Pollokshaws Road, close to the Arnold Clark garage.

At least 10 police cars remain at the scene.

A Jewson lorry has been seen parked on Nithsdale Drive inside a police cordon, where a bike is also leaning against a railing.

The bike has been described as “crushed.”

A cyclists helmet remains on the ground behind the lorry.

One shop worker on Pollokshaws Road told us what he heard.

He said: “We heard the horn which is quite normal for the cross, but we didn’t hear the crash from the cars which you’d usually expect. It was just silence.

“That’s when we realised it must have been a cyclist. Then we saw all the police and everything outside.

“There wasn’t a bang or anything.

“The police have asked us for our CCTV which faces down Pollokshaws Road. I think the truck was coming up the road and turning left.”

Another eyewitness saw someone being put into the back of an ambulance.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 9.12am today to attend a road traffic incident on Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow.

“One ambulance, a paramedic response unit and our trauma team were dispatched and our crews are currently on  scene.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman added: "At about 9.15am this morning, we were called to a report of a serious road crash involving a lorry and a cyclist on Nithsdale Drive at Pollokshaws Road.

"Emergency services are in attendance and Nithsdale Drive will be closed for a number of hours while enquiries are being carried out."
