Detectives have issued an appeal for information after the death of Cameron McMillan.

Police were called to Quarry Street in Motherwell around 5.05am on May 19, after the 23-year-old was seriously injured during an altercation outside.

Emergency services attended, however, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on connection with the death and appeared before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.

While, a 34-year-old man was also arrested in connection with an assault and appeared at the court on Tuesday.

Detective Inspector Cammy Miller from Coatbridge CID said: “Extensive enquiries are being carried out to gather as much information about what happened, with detectives examining CCTV and speaking to local residents.

“Despite the early hour, it was daylight and from CCTV we can see that there were a number of members of the public in the area walking dogs and going about their daily business. It is vital that these people come forward and speak to the police, regardless of whether they think they have information or not.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Quarry Street from around 4.30am to 5.15am, and heard or saw any sort of disturbance, to get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Wishaw CID via 101, quoting incident number 0978 of Sunday. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS anonymously on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
