A POPULAR south side bar has announced its shock closure.

The Boyd Roderick, on Pollokshaws Road, issued an online statement saying it would shut its doors for the final time in the coming weeks.

The post on the bar's Facebook page blamed "fixed costs with third parties" as "too much to maintain a sustainable business".

The pub will continue with business as normal until the official closure date is confirmed.

However, the Facebook post said staff may move on immediately which will "have a bearing" on what the site can offer in its final weeks.

There will be no bookings beyond a day and those who have already made bookings will be contacted if it is no longer possible.

The post said management were "saddened" by the news and were proud of the work put into the pub over the last year.

The post read: "I would like to thank each and every one of you that has been in to support us and for making a very special, cosy atmosphere to operate in.

"I hope to see as many of you as possible over the coming weeks.
