INSECT burgers will be on the menu this weekend as a university takes its pioneering research to the north of the city.

Glasgow Caledonian University will host its annual Citizen Science Day, with Cadder Housing Association, at Cadder Community Centre on Saturday.

Visitors will get the chance to learn how insects, which are rich in protein, could feature on menus of the future.

Bob Doris MSP attended a preview of the event on Friday with pupils from Cadder Primary School.

More than 200 people including the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, attended last year's event, which was held in the south of the city.
