NEW images have been released to highlight the potential of a former bank opposite Glasgow Queen Street train station which has gone up for sale.

The historical Royal Bank of Scotland cash handling centre, Dale House, on West George Street, was built in the early 1980s.

Full planning consent was secured in 2018 to demolish the building and to create a new seven-storey structure, paving the way for a 160-bed hotel with retail and restaurant space.

The centrally-located property also provides an opportunity to be developed for offices and residential and student accommodation, subject to planning consent.

The opportunity further exists for hotel and office pre-let enquiries.

Now, new pictures have been released showing the building as a hotel, designed to complement the new-look Queen Street station, which is currently undergoing a £110 million makeover.

Glasgow Times:

Kerr Young, director of hotels and hospitality at property firm JLL, said: “Glasgow’s hotel market is performing incredibly well, with average daily room rates and occupancy rates increasing year on year.

“As a result, we’re expecting high levels of interest in Dale House, given its prime location in central Glasgow providing strong business and leisure drivers which will attract major corporate and leisure demand.

“We are inviting offers from perspective hotel operators to submit proposals to enter into a lease on the completed hotel.

“Offers will also be considered for the acquisition of the Dale House”.

2018 was a record-breaking one for Glasgow’s market, which surpassed one million sq ft for the first time ever, down, in part, to major deals involving Barclays and HMRC.
