Human remains found in a Dumfries park on Wednesday have been confirmed to be those of missing woman Emma Faulds.

The 39-year-old was reported missing to police on Tuesday, April 30.

The last confirmed sighting was around 9.10pm on April 28 when she was in Monkton, Ayrshire.

Police Scotland found human remains on Wednesday as part of their investigation into her disappearance, and have now confirmed they belong to Miss Faulds.

A police spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can now confirm that the human remains which were discovered in the Galloway Forest area on Wednesday 12 June 2019, are that of Emma Faulds.

"Emma's family have been made aware and specialist officers are continuing to provide support to her family."
