A TRAINEE lawyer could lose her job after she admitted spitting on a bouncer during a drunken rant.

Carly MacDonough, 29, kicked off after her friend Gavin Savage, 28, had been ordered out Glasgow's Maggie May's bar last July.

The pair had earlier been at the city's TRNSMT music festival.

Savage branded door stewards "fat b******s" - before raging MacDonough spat towards one of them.

A sheriff said their antics had given an "appalling impression" of Glasgow.

MacDonough and Savage, both of Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, were each fined £350 after they pled guilty to acting in an aggressive manner.

Savage initially had "banter" with another customer before a row broke out.

Prosecutor Hannah Sweeney told Glasgow Sheriff Court: "Savage became aggressive towards door stewards.

“He called them fat b******s and jobs worths."

Savage then phoned a cab for him and MacDonough - as pub staff called police.

Police soon turned up - but the pair were initially too drunk to be charged.

Simon Whyte, defending MacDonough, said she was ashamed of her actions.

He said: “She knows this is a threat to her career prospects.

“She is a trainee solicitor and has been part of the same firm in different capacities for the past 10 years.”

Savage's lawyer Billy Lavelle said the recruitment firm worker believed he had not done anything wrong before being kicked out the pub.

Sheriff Gerard Bonnar reduced the fine from £400 due to the guilty plea.

He told them: “This kind of behaviour in the city centre gives an appalling impression of the city and both of you should be ashamed.”
