FORE-MIDABLE fundraisers have raised over £70k in memory of a special little boy after organising a marathon golf event.

Parents Robert and Nicola Clark from Greenock were left devastated when their 18-month-old son Euan died while waiting for a heart transplant seven years ago.

As a tribute to their brave boy, Robert and Nicola - through their Euan's Cause charity - raised just under £22,000 for the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity through a marathon golf challenge where Robert and his pals completed an astonishing 99 holes on six different golf courses in just 18 hours.

Glasgow Times:

Robert who lives in Kenmore Drive with Nicola and son Lyle, five, and daughter Libby, two, told our sister publication the Greemock Telegraph: "Raising just short of £22,000 is amazing, that is our biggest event to date.

"We have now raised over £70,000 in Euan's memory which is incredible.

"I'm so chuffed.

"It was a lot of hard work for all the people involved and that's the reason we have done so well.

"We have got the support of so many people."

Robert and his pals - Derek Watters, Blair Harvey, Gavin McDougall, Andrew Samuel, Fraser McKillop, Kevin Trainner and Barry Hayes - played six rounds of golf on six different courses before finally finishing at Gourock Golf Club 18 hours later.

Robert, 38, added: "It was good but it was tough because we were carrying our clubs up and down.

"Nicola was a massive help on the day.

"We started playing at 4am and reached Gourock Golf Club at 10pm.

"The reception we received at the end was amazing.

"Our son Lyle played the first shot at Gourock, which was magic."

Robert says the couple will never stop fundraising for Euan.

He said: "The fact that we can continue to raise money in his name for such an amazing charity, the Glasgow Children's Hospital, is great.

"We will never stop, we will keep going.

"We got such great support from the hospital and they are behind us in everything we do.

"If we can prevent just one family going through what we did then it's a job done."
