THE founder of a popular theatre school has died at the age of 91.

Theatre Guild Glasgow paid tribute to Mr Billy Love who passed away on Friday, July 19 at the Erskine Park Home.

Mr Love was the founding member of the organisation and honorary life president.

The Theatre Guild was formed in 1960 and the company is one of Glasgow's most highly respected musical theatre groups.

In a tribute, the group said: "The Theatre Guild family has had many members over the years who will no doubt remember Billy with great affection.

"It is most certainly the end of an era for our club. 

"The Guild send their love and best wishes to Billy’s family."

Mr Love's relative Gregor Long added: "Thank you for your kind words about my great uncle it is fantastic to know he had such a profound effect on so many people's lives."

His funeral will be held on Monday, July 29 at 3.30pm in Clydebank Crematorium.
