PLANS have been submitted for new homes in Glasgow's South Side.

The residential development containing at least 32 homes could be built on Barrhead Road on the site of a former city council ground maintenance depot if city planners give the project the go-ahead.

John Wright Properties is behind the project and once complete, the homes would be available for rent on the private market.

A planning statement said: "John Wright Properties have completed and currently developing properties for private rent in the Glasgow area.

"The properties are retained by John Wright Properties and rented out at the market rate depending on the location of the development.

"The development at Barrhead Road will be part of their growing portfolio of properties.

"The properties are to be timber frame construction and have dual pitch roofs that incorporate flush PV panels.

"Economic materials such as facing brick and concrete roof tiles are to be the predominant external materials."

The statement continues: "There is to be a variety of housing types and sizes of accommodation to meet the housing needs within the local rented market.

"Overall the design is to be economically viable, the average house price for the area is £160,000.

"The development is to be designed so that tenants would aspire to living in the development for a long time due to its attractive and safe environment."

The last date for comments on the project is August 21 and a decision is expected on the plans by September 16.
