AN investigation has been launched after thieves ransacked a house during a break-in in Renfrew.
The incident happened between 5.30pm and 8.45pm on Thursday in Crofton Avenue.
A 50-year-old woman living at the house went out to visit family in hospital and while she was out crooks smashed in a rear patio door, removed alarm boxes and ransacked the house.

Police say it is not yet clear what has been stolen.
Inspector Jim Cast, of the Renfrewshire community policing team, said: "The house was left in a right mess causing the woman to be extremely upset.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish what was stolen and we are looking at CCTV from the area."
Anyone with information is being urged to call officers on 101.
