A THUG disguised in a ski-mask was part of a gang who attacked a man after he parked his car.

Detectives are investigating the serious assault and vandalism in Ayr's Russell Drive on Saturday at around 9.30pm.

Police said the 27-year-old man had just parked his blue Volkswagen Golf on Russell Drive when he got out and was approached by a man on an orange and black bicycle.

The man, who was wearing all black and a black coloured ski-mask then threatened him before a larger group of people turned up and seriously assaulted him.

The group then proceeded to throw items at his car, causing extensive damage, before making off in an unknown direction.

The victim was taken to Ayr Hospital and released after treatment.
