THOUSANDS of pills thought to be deadly street valium were dumped and set on fire in Lenzie.

A member of the public called in the cops after discovering the tiny pills on fire in Bothlin Burn, Lenzie this morning.

The force said they have now removed the pills and they are no longer considered a danger to anyone walking in the area.

It is understood that the fire damage has prevented police from testing the pills. One local source speculated that it may be deadly street valium.

Local dog walking company Take The Lead issued a warning to locals after they spotted the haul during a walk.

In a post on Facebook, they said: "Police in attendance and will dispose of drugs. Possible valium.

"Anybody walking from the Woodilee to Moodiesburn past Bothlin/Calfmuir please keep your eyes out with dogs and young children.

"Thousands of pills have been dumped and attempted to burn. Police have been called."
