A WOMAN has died while out walking her dog in Bearsden.

The 62-year-old became on unwell as she took the pooch out on spare ground near Almond Road, Bearsden this morning.

The alarm was raised but she sadly died at the scene. 

Police said a post mortem examination will take place to determine how she died. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

A force spokeswoman said: "It was around 6.50am this morning, a 62-year-old woman became unwell as she walked her dog on spare ground near to Almond Road, Bearsden. 

"Emergency service attended, however, the woman died at the scene. 

"A post mortem examination will take place to establish the exact cause of death. 

"Police are not treating as suspicious at this time and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

The Evening Times understands nearby Westerton station was packed with police officers this morning as they carried out their investigation.
