Police are looking to track down a woman who stopped an alleged violent assault on another woman pushing a pram. 

The alleged assault happened in Weavers Terrace, Paisley at around 4.30pm on Tuesday.

It is claimed the man was shouting and swearing at the woman. He is then alleged to have grabbed her by the hair and pulled her towards him.

A woman passing-by is believed to have intervened by shouting at the man.

Police added that the victim was pushing a pram at the time of the alleged incident.

A force spokesman said: "Police would like to speak to the woman and anyone else who may have witnessed this alleged attack.

"Anyone with information please contact 101 quoting incident number 2327 of 20th August."
