Marks & Spencer favourite Percy Pig has opened the doors to the brand's new food store in Cumbernauld - wearing a kilt.

The ribbon was cut by Clyde One presenter, Amber Zoe Livingstone, Store Manager, Amy Cherry, and Percy Pig, who arrived in his kilt at the 10 am opening today.

They were accompanied by the store’s 48-strong team and to help celebrate the opening, the first 200 customers through the doors received M&S vouchers, up to the value of £200, to enjoy in-store.

Glasgow Times:

Amy Cherry, Store Manager said: “The team has been working so hard to get ready for the opening and it’s been brilliant to see the community turn out to support us today. Our shelves are bursting with everything from lunches to go and everyday essentials, through to dinners perfect for sharing with family and friends. We’re excited to be part of the Cumbernauld community, and we can’t wait to get to know our local customers.”

John Sanson, from Kilsyth, was the lucky winner of the £200 Golden Ticket. He said: “M&S is a great addition to Cumbernauld and it’s great that people in the community will be able to easily pick-up tasty M&S products at lunch or en route home from work. I for one can’t wait and especially now I’ve won the £200 Giftcard!”

Glasgow Times:

Amber Zoe Livingstone, the home run presenter on Clyde One, said: “I’ve lived in Cumbernauld my entire life and have been so excited about the new store joining the town for so long, so I was absolutely over-the-moon to have been asked to take part in the launch activity. My favourite M&S product is undoubtably Red Diamond Strawberries and now that I have an M&S on my doorstep, I’ll be visiting regularly to pick-up daily essentials and treats on the weekend!”

The store is located at 11 St Maurice Gate, and will be open Monday to Saturday, 8 am to 8 pm, and on Sunday, 10 am to 7 pm.
