A man has been arrested and charged after a police officer was injured by a flare during an Irish Republican march last week.

Hundreds of riot police were drafted in to deal with the Irish Republican group and a Loyalist protest on September 7, after which eleven people were arrested - including two schoolboys.

A police officer was rushed to hospital after he was injured by a flare thrown by protesters, and was later released.

Now, police have confirmed a 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

A police spokesman confirmed: "A 32-year-old-man has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident in which a police officer was injured after being hit by a pyrotechnic thrown in Clyde Street, Glasgow on 7 September 2019."
