Fernando Ricksen has been honoured by the Netherlands international team ahead of their 2020 qualifier.

The former Dutch internationalist and Rangers fan favourite Ricksen passed away last month following a six year battle with Motor Neurone Disease.

Now, first team players from the Netherlands and Northern Ireland side led Feyenoord's De Kuip stadium in a minute's applause to the footballing hero.

A black and white tribute showing an image of the star in his prime was put on the big screens, along with "Fernando Ricksen 1976-2019".

An image of the gesture was shared by Ricksen's friend Vincent de Vries with the caption "Wonderful tribute".
