A man has suffered serious injuries to his head and body in a suspected targeted assault in the Pollok area of the city.

The 26-year-old was approached by a man who chased him down the street on Househillmuir Road at around 3pm on Thursday, October 10 before assaulting him.

A grey car was then seen speeding away from the area and officers believe it was a targeted attack.

The victim was treated for "serious lacerations" to his head and body at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital following the incident.

Officers are now keen to trace the man responsible and have encouraged anyone with information to come forward.

The suspect is said to be white, aged in his mid-twenties, with short brown hair and wearing a light coloured, hooded top and sports clothing.

Detective Sergeant Raymond Hunter said: “This attack occurred near to a local primary school and there will have been parents making their way towards the school to collect their children."

"I would ask them to think back and consider if they saw something which seemed a little odd but they dismissed it at the time."
