A nine-year-old girl remains in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car in North Ayrshire.
The schoolgirl had to be airlifted to hospital in Glasgow after the tragic incident, which took place on Dalry Road in Kilwinning yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services rushed to the area, near to Kilwinning Academy, after the girl was knocked down by a red Ford Fiesta car.
Medics at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital describe her condition as serious but stable.

The road was closed until 9.15pm while police carried out their investigations.
Inspector Greg Dinnie, of Ayrshire’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and has not yet spoken to us to come forward.
“I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage which could help with our enquiries.”
