This is the shocking moment a group of yobs let off fireworks in a busy Glasgow street, just yards from cars and locals.

Worried shoppers at the Co-Op store on Pollokshaws Road can be seen running in fear as the pyrotechnics begin to go off.

The 50 second long clip, posted from a worried nearby resident who did not want to be named, shows a group of youngsters dressed in dark clothing running towards another group waiting outside the south side store.

A woman in a brown coat then runs in the opposite direction as the rockets begin launching into the air.

A police van then speeds into frame, chasing after those responsible.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed to the Evening Times they were in attendance at an "ongoing incident".

They added: "We received numerous reports of youths letting off fireworks in the vicinity of Pollokshaws Road.

"Police officers remain in attendance".

The shocking behaviour comes in spite of a firework crackdown promise from officers in Pollokshields.

Last year locals endured a night of hell as around 40 adults and young men in balaclavas set off industrial fireworks in the streets - even aiming them at police.

Over the past 12 months Pollokshields Community Council - following a heated public meeting - has been working with the authorities to launch a plan of action to stop trouble.
