A major motorway was partially closed in Glasgow earlier as police responded to a major incident.

Emergency services were called at around 10am amid reports that a person had fallen from a bridge over the M77.

As a result, the M77 northbound near to Junction 1 was closed off, sparking lengthy delays.

The road was later fully re-opened at around 11am, however delays were still expected as traffic got back to normal.

There is no update on any potential injuries at this time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed to the Evening Times: "At around 10am, police received reports that a person had fallen from a bridge over the M77."

They later added: "The M77 northbound has fully re-opened and traffic is flowing freely.

"Thank you for your patience while emergency services were dealing with this incident."

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
