ONE of the city’s favourite chip shops has set the date for a “grand re-opening” of its flagship store.

Blue Lagoon will have almost doubled the capacity of its Argyle Street branch from 45 to 80 seats when customers return next week.

The total cost of the chip shop’s upsizing, growing into an adjacent unit, is expected to come to £500,000, and will create 20 new jobs.

A spokesperson for Blue Lagoon said: “We felt that despite all the doom and gloom currently surrounding businesses on the high street, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to really do something special with our brand and create our flagship Blue Lagoon branch.

“Our proposed re-opening date has been set for November 22, which we’re very excited about, and we also have an unnamed celebrity coming up for the grand opening!”

The 208 Argyle Street restaurant’s revamp will include new “Blue Lagoon-themed decorations” (right)and an “enhanced takeaway offering”.
