AN OAP struck a man with her car after he shielded a boy from the collision.

Mary Docherty, 87, hit Mohammed Moubha with her Honda Jazz in September, last year.

Mr Moubha was crossing the road in Glasgow’s Gorbals area with the four-year-old, pushing him out of the way when Docherty ran a red light.

He received pain to his hip and bruising, with the boy only getting a cut above his eyebrow.

Docherty, from Gallowgate, pleaded guilty yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to dangerous driving to the injury of the boy.

She was fined £250 and banned from driving for 12 months by Sheriff Paul Reid, and told the court that she will surrender her licence.
