A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after being struck by a car on a busy Glasgow street.

Traffic was brought to a standstill near to Buchanan Galleries and Buchanan Bus Station as emergecy crews attended the scene.

Police and ambulance were in attendance at North Hanover Street near to the junction with Killermont Street just before 5pm.

It was initially reported that the response was a result of a two-vehicle collision, however officers have now confirmed that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "At around 4.45pm officers received reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on North Hanover Street.

"Emergency services are in attendance".

It's believed the man has been taken by ambulance to hospital.

The extent of his injuries are not yet known.

Eyewitnesses on the scene saw at least 3 rapid response medic vehicles, as well as an ambulance and two police vehicles. 

It comes less than a week after another pedestrian was struck by a bus on the nearby Killermont Street.

On November 19 we told how a man was taken to hospital as a result of the collision near to the bus station.

The road was closed to all traffic as a result.
