TWO robbers armed with a weapon have threatened a woman during a raid of a BP garage for cigarettes and alcohol.

Police are hunting for the armed thugs who struck on Thursday morning at the BP Garage in Greenock Road, Paisley.

The force said the duo entered the garage armed with a weapon and threatened a woman working within at around 7.10 am.

They nicked cigarettes and alcohol before running off.  The member of staff was uninjured but has been left very upset by the incident.

Detective Sergeant Gary McEwan said:  “This store is popular with the local community as well as morning commuters coming into and leaving Paisley.

"I am asking people who were around at the time of the crime to think back and consider if they noticed anything suspicious or unusual?

"If you have a dash cam, please check the footage as it may have captured the suspects at the garage before committing the crime.

"Any small piece of information could be vital as we piece together the circumstances of this crime.”

Officers are in the process of collecting CCTV footage for review and are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area.  Descriptions have also been released of the men.

The first man is between 5ft 7 inches and 5ft 10 inches in height with a medium build. He was wearing a navy coloured puffer coat, dark tracksuit trousers, and white trainers.  He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a black face mask in an effort to conceal his identity.
