A MAN has been arrested and a woman has been taken to hospital after a disturbance in Govanhill.

Several police cars rushed to the scene on Calder Street on Friday morning.

Police said the incident was contained within a property. A woman, 49, however, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Her injuries are not thought to be serious.

A man, 49, has been arrested in connection with the incident. 

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police attended a property on Calder Street in Glasgow around 8.30 am on Friday, 29 November following a reported disturbance.

"A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

"A woman, also 49-years-old, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She has not suffered any serious injury.

"The incident was contained to within the property and there was no risk to the wider public.

"The local community is thanked for their understanding while officers dealt with the incident."
