A derogatory slur appeared outside Hampden Stadium ahead of the Betfred Cup Final.
The sectarian graffiti was sprayed onto a box near the Glasgow stadium, and an image was shared on social media as fans began to travel to today's Rangers v Celtic match.
Glasgow City Council has now confirmed they are sending a member of their team to get rid of the offensive paint, which reads 'f****n b****rds'.
A spokeswoman said: "I’ve been in touch with our graffiti removal team to organise this being actioned as soon as possible."

It comes just one day after a local councillor slammed graffiti which appeared at Rangers' training ground.
Councillor Graeme McGinnigle: "This disgusting act of vandalism is clearly sectarian in nature in the run-up to the old firm.
"Those who think that this is an acceptable part of football are not real football fans and have no place in the game."
