Thousands of residents in the Northwest and South of Glasgow were left without water this morning, after a second water cut in two weeks for the area.

Area codes G12, G20, G23, G41, G43, G44, G61 and G62 were left without running water this morning, with residents in G42 also reporting shortages, over what Scottish Water describe as a “fault on a control valve”.

A representative for Scottish Water said: “Normal water supplies are being restored in parts of the Glasgow area which have been affected by a fault on a control valve this morning.

“Engineers quickly resolved the fault on a valve in Milngavie and are now restoring normal supplies to affected properties.”

Scottish Water has assured that all customer supplies are largely back to normal however, residents are being warned that it may take some time before normal water pressure returns to affected properties.

The incident is the second water outage in the city in the past 10 days, with a supply problem also being identified on December 7th.

“We estimate that several thousand properties have been affected, mainly in the north west of the city and in some parts of the south side.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank affected customers for their patience and understanding.”
