IT HAS had a starring role in one of Glasgow’s favourite plays of all time for many years - now Galloway’s mince has officially sealed the deal.

The famous Scotbeef product has signed up to become sponsors of The Steamie, which kicks off a limited run at the SSE Hydro on December 27.

The meaty Galloway’s mince soliloquoy, delivered in style by Mrs Culfeathers as she reminisces about her husband’s penchant for mince and tatties, is legendary, as Scotbeef CEO Robbie Galloway explained.

“Everyone at Scotbeef is very excited to support Tony Roper’s The Steamie , the most iconic Scottish play ever written,” he said.

“Generations of Scots grew up watching the show and we are pleased to be able to add to its success.”

He added: “In a nostalgic twist, Galloway’s mince and tatties will be served at the venue before each performance - all in honour of Mrs Culfeathers and that famous mince scene, of course.”

Written by Tony Roper in 1987, The Steamie is set in a Glasgow wash-house on Hogmanay, as the women share stories of the past and look forward to the future.

The cast includes Mary McCusker, Louise McCarthy, Gayle Telfer Stevens, Fiona Wood and Harry Ward.

It runs from December 27 until 31 - visit thessehydro.com for tickets and more information.
