A police incident near to the River Clyde has sparked a road closure near to a busy college.

The walkway along the river from Gorbals Street, near to the Sheriff Court) to the City of Glasgow College Riverside Campus has been closed by police.

The college made the announcement on Twitter at around 8am this morning, advising students to take an alternative route to the building.

The City of Glasgow College tweeted: "Due to an ongoing police incident, the walkway along the River Clyde is closed from Gorbals Street (Sheriff Court) to Riverside Campus.

"Staff and students are advised to use an alternative route to get to college - access is available from Crown Street."

Police confirmed they were in attendance, however investigations established no crime took place.

A spokesperson told the Glasgow Times:"Enquiries close to the Gorbals Street area of Glasgow during the morning of Tuesday, 7 January have established no criminality has taken place.

"The local community is thanked for their patience while this work was carried out."
