Hearts captain Christophe Berra has revealed he was axed by Daniel Stendel just two days after his wedding.

The Scotland defender has been forced to train with the reserves at Riccarton after being told he is not part of future plans under the German.

Berra's form has slumped this season in keeping with his side's performances that have dropped the Jambos into bottom of the Scottish Premiership.

Frustrated Berra, 34, has told how he was left "hurt and angry" at the decision.

And the nature in which it was handled.

Speaking to the BBC, Berra said: "It came out of the blue.

"I just got married on Friday and then on Sunday I'm getting told I'm not involved any more."

Berra still has 18 months remaining on his Hearts contract but has been told he can leave on a permanent deal or on loan.

He will join Glenn Whelan on the way out as the Irishman departed the club today.
