TRIBUTES have been paid to Scottish entertainer Tom Alexander, who has died at the age of 85.
He toured with his brother Jack for more than 50 years as one half of the Alexander Brothers, playing the accordion.
They enjoyed widespread success in Scotland as well as Canada, the US, Australia and New Zealand.
Ayr’s Gaiety Theatre, where the North Lanarkshire pair had performed, paid tribute.
It said: “One of our legendary performers from the Gaiety’s golden era of show-business, Tom Alexander, has sadly passed away.
“Tom will be greatly missed, and our sincere condolences and love go out to his family, friends, and fans.”
His brother died after a stroke in 2013, aged 77.
